Museum also houses an amazing collection of art egg cups. This collection, full of 3,500 pieces can be seen in  Monieux : porcelain, pottery, glass, wood...the variety of materials, shapes and colors make it a unique exhibition of its kind.

It is the story of a man and a woman, a couple of globe-trotters. During their several trips, they decided to collect egg cups from all around the world! This collection was handed down to the village by Mrs Knoche.

How did I take up collecting egg cups ?   Everything started in Greece, on holidays. On a potter market, I discovered an unusual-shaped ceramic egg cup, which I really liked. As I was very fond of flea markets, soon after I owned a great amount of egg cups. After almost 20 years, I had near 3500 different items, coming from various places in the world. I’ve never bought any brand new egg cup because I was more fascinated by seeking these little objects. Thus, my house was entirely decorated with shelves full of egg cups ! Unfortunately, as I retired, my husband and I had to move out into a small flat, where there wasn’t enough room for my whole collection. However, I wanted my collection to remain complete, that’s why I decided to hand it down to the town of Monieux, so that all my egg cups would be gathered together and moreover in this small beloved village.
